Brooch. Vitreous enamel on copper in oxidized sterling silver setting. 23K gold leaf subtly reflects light through the mesh dome. Hundreds of dots of enamel are applied with a tiny brush under magnification and kiln-fired repeatedly to build a unique textural surface. A few seconds too long in the 1500 F. heat can cause the enamel to melt to a flat glossy surface.
